One of Those Evenings
It has been a wonderful short break here on the Cape, this evening the sun briefly came out, now the clouds have returned. My mother is presently writing another autobiographic chapter of her life and asked me to select some old family photos to put into the book. I came across this photo of me shooting my first photo with a Minox. The woman on the right is my Aunt Judy, no longer alive, but was very close, affectionate, and adoring during my childhood.
I can’t tell you how many times people always ask me, when did you first get into photography? I usually answer around 14 or 15 years of age, but now answer will be different. From this photo, its clear that I had a strong interest in cameras, and seeing the world through a viewfinder at a much younger age. I will now say, “Oh, around five years old.”
I am even smiling as I look through this small camera, just as I still do today, when I feel the creative drive.
